Summer Stain Solutions

Those Summer Stains…

What’s a party without some stains?  Here are some common summer stains and simple solutions.

Barbecue sauce.  Remove as much of the sauce off the fabric as you can and run cold water over the back of the stain.  Gently rub liquid detergent on to the stained area.  Rinse well and repeat the process until the stain is no longer visible.  Apply a stain stick to the fabric and let it set for 5 minutes before putting in the washing machine.

Berries. Scrape off as much of the berries as you can, then rinse the stain from the backside with cold water. Rub liquid detergent into the stain and let it set for five minutes.  Then rinse with hot water from the backside of the fabric.  Apply a stain stick to the fabric and let it set for 5 minutes before putting in the washing machine.

Red wine. Blot up as much of the stain as possible by using a clean, white cloth.  Then pour cold water onto the stain and blot up the stained area again. Continue until no more stain can be removed. Then, use a 3 to 1 baking soda/water paste on the red wine stain.  Allow this to dry before wiping off the excess solution.  Then wash as usual.
